Content and sources

What a view can contain.

A view can combine pages that allow embedding with content you make in DisplayStation. The same tools are included in every valid license.

  • Text poster

    A short message with your own type, color, and background.

  • Clock and date

    The time and date for the room, as a digital clock or a clock face.

  • Countdown

    Days, hours, and minutes until an event, or the time since it started.

  • Image gallery

    Several images in one area, with a pause between them.

  • Video

    A video file you upload. It plays without sound so it can start on its own.

  • YouTube or Vimeo

    A public video, when the source allows it to be embedded.

  • RSS feed

    Headlines from a feed you choose, and the number of stories to show.

  • PDF

    A document on the screen, as a full page or fitted to the area.

  • QR code

    A code people can scan, with a heading and a short instruction.

  • Websites and dashboards

    A page that allows embedding, such as a status board you already use.

Screens

Choose what each screen shows.

You assign each connected screen a view and publish when something should change. Several screens can share a view. A locked screen shows the published view and has no editing controls.

One license

One software subscription includes content production, publishing, and screen management. There is no separate content upgrade and no license that leaves content production out. Prices exclude VAT.

Practical questions

What does one screen license include?

One screen license covers content production, publishing, and screen management for one connected screen. The subscription starts at 10 screen licenses and can be raised to 500 in groups of 10. It does not include a physical screen or a player device.

What equipment do we need?

You need your own screen and compatible playback equipment. The Android player connects compatible Android devices to DisplayStation. It does not claim to work on every TV or every Android device. A browser can be used for preview. DisplayStation does not supply the screen or the player hardware.

Which pages and formats can a screen show?

Web pages that allow embedding, including many dashboards, presentations, and status pages. The content tools can make a text poster, clock and date, countdown, image gallery, uploaded video, YouTube or Vimeo, RSS feed, PDF, and QR code. Uploaded video plays muted. A page or video that blocks embedding cannot be forced in.

Can different screens show different content?

Yes. Each connected screen is assigned a view. Several screens can share one view, and others can have their own.

What still works if the network drops?

The player keeps the last verified view. Content files that are already cached continue to play. Pages from other sites need a connection, and so does a feed or video that is not stored locally.
